Harlenne's Story
For Harlenne Burg, a 45-year-old Hopkinton resident, the Boston Marathon is more than just a race—it’s the realization of a lifelong dream. As a first-time marathoner, Harlenne is channeling her passion and determination into supporting the Library Foundation, a cause that resonates deeply with her values and the community she calls home.

“I’ve always felt that libraries are more than just buildings—they’re spaces of possibility, where stories, knowledge, and ideas come to life,” Harlenne shares. “Running for HPLF feels like the perfect way to give back to Hopkinton, a town that has given so much to me and my family.”

The journey to the Boston Marathon hasn’t been without its challenges. Balancing training with family life, work, and community commitments has required focus and resilience. “I didn’t grow up as an athlete, but running has taught me so much about pushing past limits and finding joy in the process,” she says.
Every step I take in training reminds me why I’m doing this: for my hometown, to support our library, and to show that no matter where you start, you can achieve incredible things.

Running the Boston Marathon in 2025, starting in the very town she loves and crossing the finish line in Boston, will be the culmination of both a personal dream and a mission to improve Hopkinton’s future. Through her efforts, Harlenne hopes to inspire others to invest in their community and take on challenges that make a lasting difference.
